'Children of the Gulf War' Project in Scotts Valley, Calif., organizes a photo exhibition by Japanese photojournalist Takashi Morizumi. Morizumi's photos display the hardships suffered by Iraqi children as a result of DU use in both Gulf Wars I and II.

Abolition 2000 is a worldwide network of over 2,000 organizations in over 90 countries working for a global treaty to eliminate nuclear weapons.
Downwinders is a research and educational foundation established in 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Downwinders takes its name from the residents living in the prevailing wind pattern surrounding the Nevada Test Site, and who have been constantly exposed to radioactive fallout from America's nuclear testing activities conducted there. Downwinders was founded with two primary goals: (1) To expose the plight of downwind residents whose fallout exposures have caused cancers, leukemia, and other illnesses, and to obtain justice for their injuries. (2) To fight for an immediate end to all nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site and elsewhere.
Military Toxics Project unites activists, organizations, and communities in the struggle to clean up military pollution, safe-guard the transportation of hazardous materials, and to advance the development and implementation of preventative solutions to the toxic and radioactive pollution caused by military activities. MTP's mission is based on mutual respect and justice for all peoples, free from any form of discrimination or bias.
Radiation and Public Health Project is a nonprofit educational and scientific organization, established by scientists and physicians dedicated to understanding the relationships between low-level nuclear radiation and public health.

Uranium Medical Research Centre is an independent non profit organization founded in 1997 to provide scientific and medical service and expertise not otherwise available. The UMRC mission is to identify and quantitatively analyze internal contamination with uranium, transuranium elements, and radionuclides produced by the process of uranium decay and fission.
Peace activism (general)
Alameda Peace Network in Alameda County is group of Alameda residents who believe that peaceful solutions to local, national and international conflicts are possible and desirable. We are committed to non-violence and welcome diversity and new ideas. Holds peace vigils every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 on the corner of Oak and Santa Clara in Alameda.
Asian and Pacific Islander Coalition Against War is a coalition of individuals and organizations from Asian and Pacific Islander communities of the Bay Area. We believe that true peace and security can only come through global justice. Working in solidarity with other anti-war groups and community organizations, our mission is to build an anti-war and anti-interventionists movement that upholds the sovereignty and human rights of opporessed people within the US and abroad.

Berkeley Peace Walk and Vigil is a weekly non-violent peace walk and vigil to protest the 'War on Terrorism' and continuing U.S. military intervention abroad. The vigil is held every Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the downtown Berkeley BART station (Shattuck Avenue at Center Street), followed by a walk along Shattuck at 7:00.

Davis Peace Coalitionis a united coalition in Davis, Calif., working for peace. Peace activism (issue-related)
Committee in Solidarity for the People of El Salvador supports grassroots labor and womens organizing and combats neoliberalism in El Salvador and in the US through petions, media attention, speaking tours, demonstrations and street theatre. Also works with immigrants rights groups and sends people on solidarity delegations to El Salvador. There is a human rights network to combat attacks on workers and immigrants.
East Timor Action Network/S.F.was formed in the aftermath of East Timor's August 30, 1999 vote for independence from Indonesia, ETAN supports a democratic and peaceful transition to an independent East Timor.
Education for Peace in Iraq Center arose from a growing concern over the plight of the Iraqi people, and the lack of such concern in Washington, DC and the mainstream press. EPIC works toward ending the UN economic sanctions against Iraq as the only solution to Iraq's humanitarian crisis. We oppose all sanctions that prevent or otherwise hamper a nation's ability to provide for the public health of its people. In short, the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare must end.
Haiti Action Committeeis a Bay Area-based network of activists who have supported the Haitian struggle for democracy since 1991. Muslim Community Association of the San Francisco Bay Area is a religious, non-profit, and non-political organization established in 1983 and affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America. Nevada Desert experience is a faith-based organization opposing weapons of mass destruction and working to end nuclear weapons testing through prayer, dialogue, and nonviolent direct action. We draw on the desert spirituality from Native American, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and other spiritual sources and advocate nonviolence in the spirit of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. Sponsors demonstations at the Nevada Test Site each year during the Christian season of Lent and in August. National Network to End the War in Iraq is a nationwide coalition of over 60 peace and justice, student and faith-based organizations united to work for a common cause: ending the illegal, unjust, and inhumane war being waged against the people of Iraq by member states of the United Nations, led by the United States. Guided by the spirit of grassroots democracy, their vision and their goals include ending the sanctions against Iraq, ending the no-fly zones and ongoing bombing, telling the stories of ordinary Iraqis, and cleaning up and banning depleted uranium weapons.
Nicaragua Network (NicaNet) has been a leading organization in the United States committed to social and economic justice for the people of Nicaragua. The Network advocates for sound U.S. foreign policies toward Nicaragua and provides information and organizing tools to a network of 200 solidarity and peace and justice committees across the U.S. Publications include the Nicaragua Network Hotline, the Nicaragua News Service, the Nicaragua Monitor, and occasional monographs. The Network organizes speaking tours of Nicaraguans in the U.S. and study tours to Nicaragua. Volunteer brigades help in the areas of health, construction or the environment.
Pastors for Peace is a special ministry of the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO), created in 1988 to pioneer the delivery of humanitarian aid to Latin America and the Carribean. During the past 10 years , thousands of people have participated in 25 caravans to Mexico and Central America, and 8 to Cuba.
Peace Brigades International is a unique human rights organization providing unarmed protective accompaniment to activists threatened with political violence. Also offers workshops on nonviolence, conflict resolution, and human rights, as well as delegations to countries where we currently work. Maintains teams of international volunteers in Guatemala, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Haiti, and several Native American communities in North America.
School of the Americas Watch seeks to close the US government's School of the Americas ('School of Assassins' - renamed recently to the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, or WHISC) in Fort Benning, Georgia, which trains Latin American soldiers in combat, counter-insurgency, and counter-narcotics. Graduates of the School of Assassins have been responsible for some of the worst human rights abuses in Latin America.
Swords to Plowshares is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to restoring dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency to veterans in need. Swords to Plowshares provides critical services to over 2000 veterans each year and educates the public about national and local policies relating to veterans. Swords to Plowshares offers comprehensive, veteran-specific services, including mental health counseling, transitional housing, legal assistance, and job training and placement.
UC Berkeley Stop the War Coalition is an organization of students and community members representing a diverse array of political, religious, and social perspectives, united in concern following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11th, and the subsequent US-led military campaign. They are organizing around three points of unity: Stop the War; End Racist Scapegoating and Defend All Targeted Communities; and Defend Civil Liberties.
Yesh Gvul ("There is a limit") is an Israeli peace group that has shouldered the task of supporting soldiers who refuse assignments of a repressive or aggressive nature. The brutal role of the Israel Defence Force (IDF) in subjugating the Palestinian population places numerous servicemen in a grave moral and political dilemma, as they are required to enforce policies they deem illegal and immoral. The army hierarchy demands compliance, but many soldiers, whether conscripts or reservists, find that they cannot in good conscience obey the orders of their superiors.
